Agents who take part in the BBSW live events are offered the chance to take part in a group visit to see a number of schools in a particular region of the UK immediately following the live Workshops. These familiarisation or FAM trips are valued by the agents as they enhance the Workshop experience, giving them an opportunity to see the schools first hand, visit the local area and meet staff and students.
There are normally three trips on offer following each Workshop, each involving 5-6 schools located in different regions of the UK, to be visited over 2-3 days. Each trip can normally accommodate around 15 agents. The organisers of the BBSW select the clusters of schools and invite them to host an agent visit. Most of the schools will be attending the Workshop but sometimes the group will include one or more schools that attended a previous Workshop.
BBS Network is responsible for organising the FAM trips and works with the schools to organise the accommodation and schedule. There is an admin fee for each participating agent, payable to BBSN. The costs of transport (apart from the cost of the return journey to London from the final school visited), accommodation and meals for the agents are met jointly by the schools.
How do agents join the Fam Trips?
When agents apply to attend the Workshop, they are given the opportunity to apply to take part in one of the FAM trips. Agents will be informed once their place on a trip has been confirmed and an invoice for the administration fee will be issued.
